1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MechanicAI ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. The App is operated by MechanicAI. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

MechanicAI is an AI-assisted vehicle diagnostic tool. The App reads OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes via a Bluetooth adapter, and provides AI-powered analysis, repair cost estimates, and suggested next steps. Use of the App requires a compatible Bluetooth OBD-II adapter (sold separately). The App also includes a Test Drive feature that records live vehicle data during a drive and produces an informational report to help you evaluate a vehicle, including before a used-car purchase.

3. Important Disclaimers

  • MechanicAI is an informational tool only and is not a substitute for professional mechanical inspection.
  • AI analysis and cost estimates are provided for informational purposes and may not be accurate for your specific situation.
  • Safety-critical warnings (brake, airbag, steering, fuel system) should always be taken seriously and inspected by a qualified mechanic immediately.
  • You are solely responsible for all vehicle maintenance and repair decisions made based on information provided by the App.
  • We do not guarantee that diagnostic information will be complete, accurate, or error-free.
  • The Test Drive report is an informational aid only and is not a substitute for a professional pre-purchase or mechanical inspection. Do not make a purchase or repair decision based on it alone.
  • Do not interact with the App or your device while driving. The Test Drive feature is designed to run hands-free on a mounted device or to be operated by a passenger. You are solely responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and for compliance with all traffic and distracted-driving laws.
  • Only connect the App to, and record, a vehicle you own or have the owner's permission to inspect. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required before recording or sharing a vehicle's data or report.

4. Acceptable Use

MechanicAI is intended for personal vehicle diagnostics only. You may use the App on vehicles you own or are authorized to diagnose. You agree NOT to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Automate access to the App or its services
  • Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit diagnostic data obtained through the App

5. Subscriptions & Payments

The App is free to download from the Apple App Store. A $2.99 USD one-time in-app purchase unlocks the Standard tier (5 AI scans per month). A Pro subscription is available at $3.99 USD/month for unlimited diagnostics. Prices shown are in US dollars; Apple displays the equivalent price in your local currency at checkout. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled through Apple. Prices are subject to change with notice.

6. Intellectual Property

The App and all associated content, features, and functionality are the intellectual property of MechanicAI. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal license to use the App in accordance with these Terms.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MECHANICAI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Vehicle damage resulting from actions taken based on diagnostic information
  • Repair costs incurred based on AI-generated estimates
  • Personal injury resulting from reliance on diagnostic information
  • Loss of data or service interruptions

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MechanicAI, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violations of these Terms, without prior notice. Upon termination, your license to use the App is immediately revoked. The following sections survive termination: Important Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes through the App or website. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
